Just had my second hip replacement, and Dr. Birch is definitely the man about town . Preop conversations and even postop conversations he has a way of making you feel very comfortable. I work in some of the finest homes in Santa Barbara and I have multiple clients that have also been touched by Dr. Birch . Nothing to say other than he is a highly recommended Surgeon

I am a patient of Dr. Birch with severe osteoarthritis. Had a first partial knee replacement (medial) in September, 2024. Also just had the second knee done this January, 2025 (4mths apart).
Based on the recovery, I would say that Dr. Birch and his team did an amazing job with both replacements. The surgeries are done as same-day outpatient, they were performed at the SB Center for Specialized Surgery, I enjoyed being in a clinical setting without being exposed to the various potential health hazards a hospital can bring on.
Prior to the surgery, I showed up to the office appointments well prepared, with a list of several questions and all were thoroughly answered by Dr. Birch and/or his competent nurse assistants. For both surgeries, from check-in to check-out, everything went smoothly per plan.
While being prepped on the day of the surgery, the assigned team members were pleasant and efficient in making sure I had everything needed to be comfortable. Once awake after the surgery, I appreciated getting out of bed with a Physical Therapist alongside to help me take the first few steps with confidence. When back home, a qualified PT also came every second day to get the rehab process going until I could get myself to Outpatient PT.
Using the Alta patient portal to reach a member of Dr. Birch's team for any post-surgery questions was helpful.
And lastly, I would say that for "a Surgeon", Dr. Birch is easy and quite pleasant to deal with

Dr. Eli Kuppermam is one of the best doctors I’ve ever met. His bedside manner is the best! He is professional his funny. He’s just a good well rounded person! I trust him with my health because he doesn’t push surgery! My husband goes to him now and he is as well pleased. Thank you very much.

The staff were kind and professional..Xray tech., intake and Dr. Nathani as well. Doctor was thorough in his expianation of my injuries and my options for treatment. Physical therapy lady could use a little o.j.t in courtesy as she was abrupt with me.
Premises was well kept. All in all a positive experience.

I haven’t had my shoulder surgery yet so I can’t speak to his talent there. But up until now every interaction with him has been wonderful and very confidence building. The office and the way the message system is run is actually very good and I was never left hanging. I’m happy with my choice of surgeon.

How can one know how bad something is if they do not see the patient? My grandfather, a doctor said he could tell a lot that was not said by looking at a patient. When i said there was something very wrong with my right arm and movement. The reply was well a 90 yr old person is going to lose some movement. This is more than some movement.

The wait is minimal, you can register on line before you go to your appointment. Staff is friendly as well as the doctor.
